Primo
I buyed a Volumio Primo 'cause I already knew the free software, using a raspberry PI with a dac board and I'd like to improve my system. The hardware's look is wonderful, handling it you can feel a very high quality. Also the packaging is very neat and satisfying, I can't wait to test it with a better amplifier than mine and a qobuz subscription.

Rivo
Never should I think that network players could have an influence of the sound, they just transmit digital information, right? After running a Raspberry 4 with Volumio OS for some month to test the OS I decided to invest in the Rivo network player. You should have seen my face when I hooked it up! I had some problems with the sound quality with the Raspberry, the upper range was overbright and harsh and different DAC´s didn`t help much. But now when I have the Rivo in my stack I´m pleased to tell the world that I now have the sound I like and love. It´s detailed but still organic and full of life and well supported by a solid ground in the lower regions. Together with the rest of my gears it now provides me with the, at least in my ears, perfect music experience.

A have my Rivo MK2 changed with the Rivo+. So far a higher step in streaming music! All for a exeptable price! Only the start-up from full power off to full running is sometimes with problems? Restart the device is the solution for this problem. Hopefully a software upgrade solves this problem?

My old Primo was not able to update to the current version. A friendly support guy was able to quickly solve the problem. I like the software, even more the new interface. After the long history with LMS this is the way to go.

Lineo5
I have been using rivo for some time, being extremely happy of what i was listening at. Then i got curious about Lineo5. I was aware of the importance of the power but once i plugged in rivo the effect was a full surprise! Details i never heard appeared, instruments got more separated. The overall experience and pleasure of listening to music in streaming improved. I would never bleieve a different power supply could have made such difference!

Rivo
Ordered the Rivo and a couple of days later it arrived in a high quality box, couple of minutes later plugged in my M2Tech Young Dac, Set up and shortly after I'm flowing with the musicality and the detailed and transparent Audio Performance Rivo is displaying. Guys you got it right!

Substantial box with a solid feel to it. Improves clarity and center chanel more focused. Direct comparison with a cd through my Naim cd player and same track on my Rivo difficult to separate as so close sound wise. Very pleased. 😁👍

Rivo
The AES-EBU output of the Volumio Rivo is the best. I cannot stress this enough. Once you hear it, there is no going back to USB or Coax.
For me, I take the AES-EBU output into a minidsp box as an input. Then take the coax output of the minidsp box into my DAC.
I am so happy that I took a chance on Volumio Rivo. I will also be experimenting soon with upgrading to an external linear power supply for the Rivo.

Rivo
I have had a few streamers through here... I went with the Rivo as it was a simple bridge unit, no DAC or other funny stuff, a stand alone streamer, with one purpose, to stream music. I was hesitant about purchasing the Rivo, due to the Volumio software which has given me fits in past years. Well, that appears to be sorted out, though upgrades are far and few between. But, this is a hardware review, and I have to say I am impressed. I would suggest watching the Hans Beekhuyzen video on YouTube to get a good feel for the Rivo. I prefer the AES output, the USB tends to be a bit bright and grainy on my system. I am using the Nuetrik AES to Coaxial adapter that can be found in the Hans/Rivo video if you do not have an AES input on your DAC. The power supply, you need a quality power supply, I am using the Farad Super3 LPS, and it delivers. What really kicked the Rivo over the edge, was the addition of the Roon Nucleus One, that took the Rivo from very good to great! Yes, I spent a lot to get the Rivo to this point, but I felt it a better gamble then spending the same amount for a higher end streamer with all of the stuff I do not want or require. So, in the end, I think this was a good purchase. My advice, if you have the money for future upgrades, like a power supply, the Rivo is a good streamer. Add Roon and that power supply, and I think the Rivo will compete with much more expensive units. I am happy. ;-)

Primo
I recently purchased the Volumio Primo and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This music streamer delivers impeccable sound quality that rivals much more expensive systems. The setup was straightforward, and I was up and running in no time. Its sleek design fits perfectly in my audio setup, and the build quality feels premium. The user interface is intuitive and responsive, making it a pleasure to navigate through my music library. I love the versatility it offers with support for various streaming services and formats. The integration with my existing equipment was seamless, and the improvement in audio clarity is noticeable. The dedicated Volumio app is a great companion, offering extensive features and customizability. Customer support has been prompt and helpful whenever I've had questions. The Primo's performance is consistently reliable, providing a rich, immersive listening experience every time. It's a fantastic investment for any audiophile looking to enhance their home audio system. Highly recommended!

Lineo5
My setup is Roon server, Roon bridge, TIDAL, Tivoli One Radio, Sonos Five, and Sonos Sub. Roon Bridge is Raspberry Pi 5 with DAC Pro, which feeds Sonos and Tivoli systems. I sought a high-quality, clean power supply to maximize my Roon Bridge potential as the primary analog audio source. Volumio Lineo5 is the only such option I found for the price and quality. The quality is fantastic; it's super heavy, and you turn it on, and it just works, feeding my DC with clean power. I live in Europe, so it was delivered in a few days from Italy, where Volumio headquarters are. The price is reasonable, the quality is fantastic, and the looks for a power supply are excellent. I recommend it for every 5V DAC. One more thing: Volumio, please create 12V and 19V versions (or multi-voltage versions); many devices need higher voltage. Thank you for the great product!

Lineo5
Viva Volumio!

Rivo
I really like the build quality, looks, and sound of the Rivo. When I ordered the Rivo, I was under the impression that there was a plugin for Plexamp. The 2 items that attracted me to the Rivo were the HDMI out and Plexamp. The HDMI out is fantastic. The Volumio app is good but I prefer Plaxamp. Add Plexamp and my review goes up to 5 stars.

Rivo
The sound quality of the Volumio Rico is very good, compared to a Wiim Pro. Unfortunately the Volumio app is counter intuitive, so much that I am considering to selling the Rivo, once I found a good alternative in the same price range.
One example: In some cases changing a track, the display will keep on displaying the previous track for one minute or more.

Primo
I’ve only had the Primo for just over 10 days but it’s such a big leap forward for me in sound quality.
The sound quality improvement compared to my old set-up of a Raspberry Pi 3 with a filter HAT plus a Hifiberry Digi + HAT is something I wasn’t expecting to be so drastic but it is.
I listen to music from all decades and in all styles so my collection is pretty varied and I can honestly say everything I play sounds a lot better.
Everything sounds so pure and clean with a lot more instrument separation. The stereo soundstage is really wide and musical. I’m hearing things for the first time with a lot of my music it’s more alive and how I imagine it was made to sound.
Some tracks that I love but always thought were poorly recorded, well it turns out they can sound great.
Describing how something sounds is subjective as it depends on what you are comparing it to, we all have different ears and tastes in music.
My speakers are Q Acoustics 3030is on stands and a Wharfedale subwoofer I never really got much base out of the speakers before and that’s why I bought the Wharfdale subwoofer but the sound has a lot more range now and I can hear bass from the Q Acoustics speakers.
My music collection is all ripped from CD to flac files, it’s really handy for me to now be able to rip CDs on the Primo and that part works pretty effortlessly.
I’ve got my music collection stored on a 2TB m.2 drive in a USB3 enclosure and it was as simple as plugging it into the USB port on the back of the Primo then clicking source then scanning the drive in Volumio OS. I now have over 20,000 tracks ready to play in my Volumio library.
I’ve been using Volumio OS for a year now and settled on Volumio after trying all the different music players and music streaming software I could find.
Volumio has a very easy-to-use and uncluttered interface and I can control it from any device I have. Although I’m techy and like to tinker with gadgets I appreciate the way with the Primo and Volumio OS I don’t have to because it's ready to just play my music whenever I want it to.

Motivo
The Motivo had been on my radar for quite some time, ever since I caught a glimpse of the first pictures on a news blog a couple of years back.
Finally, after much anticipation, the Motivo became available, and I received mine on May 15, 2024. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. After all, I typically build my own streamers powered by Volumio's OS. How could they possibly improve upon what I already had? Well, they managed to exceed my expectations.
I have a dedicated playlist that I use for running some basic sound checks, and the Motivo truly impressed me beyond belief. The sound quality is exceptional; there's absolutely no noise floor, even when I push the Motivo to its lowest amplification setting while cranking my NAD amplifier to the max—it's just pure silence.
Here are some tracks I tested:
"Right Where It Belongs" by Nine Inch Nails from "With Teeth" (Impressive spaciousness)
"Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley from "Exodus" (Crystal-clear stereo separation)
"Money" by Pink Floyd from "The Dark Side Of The Moon"
"Man In The Long Black Coat" by Bob Dylan from "Oh Mercy" (Incredible cymbal clarity; Bob's vocals are crisp)
"Angel" by Massive Attack from "Mezzanine" (Exceptional detail in sound)
"Terry's Song" by Bruce Springsteen from "Magic" (Harmonica sounds authentic)
But is it all perfect? Not quite. There are two areas for improvement:
The power button/volume dial could have a more substantial feel to it, making rotation easier. Currently, I find myself needing to press on the side to rotate it, causing friction.
Screen responsiveness could be enhanced, especially when adjusting the volume.
In summary, the Motivo boasts a stunning design, exceptional sound quality, and even comes with an integrated headphone amplifier. Another accolade seems inevitable for Volumio!
Kudos, Volumio team!

Volumio has really poor playlist editing abilities. It's extremely cumbersome to change a playlist while it's running (such as permuting the order of pieces), copy-paste between playlists, or keep the playlist saved for re-use at all times. To add these features would be fairly simple, but the developers apparently do not consider it a priority.
That's a shame because Volumio has otherwise a lot of promise.
